I was appointed Head of Communications for BLM on the 1st September 2015 after being with the municipality for more than 12 years.
My appointment coincided with the last mile of the council term as we had local government elections on the 3rd of August 2016 .Elections always ask both councillors and officials to work harder.
As communication practitioners, it calls for two paramount issues, firstly to keep our citizens informed with accurate and constant information about government programmes and projects, and secondly changing the community member’s perception about government.
I am a graduate of a Bachelor degree in Administration (B Admin) from the University of KwaZulu Natal .I hold a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree. I also hold a Diploma in Business Computing skills .I graduated for the Certificate in Executive Leadership Municipal Development Programme with the University of Pretoria. Am currently studying towards a B.COM Honours degree in Marketing Management.
I started my career with the defunct Bushbuckridge Water Board, then joined the BLM in October 2002 as P.A to the Municipal Manager, worked in the Office of the Speaker within Public Participation Unit and currently the Head of Communications.
