BEST PLACE TO VISIT IN BUSHBUCKRIDGE

Mpumalanga Province is rich with tourism areas, Marieskop is the best place situated between Acornhoek,  and Shatale Regions at the foot of the Drakensburg Mountain. To our tourists or members of the community when coming from Nelspruit, the best way to arrive at the place is the R40 road via Greenvalley village to ward 15 Boelang villages is where you can access the area. There is a magnificent picnic spot located along the Blyde River, communities can spend a day of fun at the spot. Marieskop is approximately 23 km west of Klaserie.
INDIGENOUS FOREST
The indigenous forest represents incredibly rare montane forest and resource you will be proud of. There are some 300 different species if indigenous plants to explore.
PICNIC SPOT
There is a magnificent picnic spot located along the Blyde River, you can spend a day of at the spot. It is about 10 km away from the main office and has a wealth of indigenous trees located along the Blyde river banks. You can also enjoy camping with your family and friends with your camping equipments, swimming, birds watching and hiking. Please take note that fishing is not allowed and that fires should be made only at designated areas, and do not litter. The Salique- Marieskop picnic spot is unique because of its combination of elements of Cape Flora, Natal and Tropical Midst best forest, it is an evergreen indigenous forest throughout the year, and it is also a high rainfall area.
HIKING TRAILS
There are many kinds of hiking trails available through the indigenous and cultivated forest .the trails are varying in distance but all present the visitor with wonderful views, shady resting places and encounters with abundant bird life. Waterfalls are a popular attraction on these trails and all trails require a valid permit.
MARIESKOP VIEW SITE
A special feature of the site is the large number of protected claviers, aloes and proteas. A permit is required and a Tour guide to visit the protected site. The Marieskop complex is separated from the rest of Drakensburg range by tributaries of the Klaserie and Blyde Rivers, the latter forming a deep canyon. The Klaserie River, which rises in the indigenous forest on the southern slopes of Marieskop is a perennial stream that flows into Klaserie dam.
There is a wealth of species to be explored in the indigenous forest that has many tall trees as the yellowwood, Cape Wild Fig, Black ironwood, Cabbage Tree and White Stink wood. Tree ferns available are Epiphytic mosses, Lichens and Clivias that can be found in the forest. Available animals are Bushbucks, Leopards, Red Duiker, Samango Monkeys and Bush Pigs.
