Bushbuckridge Local Municipality comprises of 37 wards.The dominant spoken languages are Sepulana (Sepedi), Xitsonga and Siswati. Acornhoek ,Dwarsloop,Mkhuhlu ,Thulamashe and Maviljan (Bushbuckridge) are the main Shopping centres for the communities.

Dwarsloop,Thumahashe,Maviljan,Shatate,Mkhuhlu and Marite are the main townships with the rest of the geographical area made up of villages.
