The municipal area has five (5) major police stations, which are strategically located in Thulamahashe, Maviljan, Mkhuhlu, and Acornhoek. Two (2) satellites offices in Mariti and Hluvukani with magistrate courts in Thulamahashe, Maviljan and Mkhuhlu supplement the facilities.

Spatial planning guidelines prescribe that residents should be within 1,5km distance from a police station. This is not the case in Bushbuckridge where these services need to be increased to ensure that all residents are satisfied with regards the security situation.
