  • Attend Employment Equity and stay informed of legal compliance requirements
  • Implement affirmative action measures by consulting with employees ,conducting an analysis, preparing an employment equity plan
  • Reporting to the Director Corporate Services on progress made in the implementation of the plan
  • Evaluate employment policies and procedures
  • Address internal grievances or complaints concerning unfair discrimination.
  • Address internal grievances concerning non-compliance by the employer with provision to the Act or the Employment Equity Plan
  • Develop statically information necessary to assess employment trends and evaluate progress of designated employee within occupational categories
  • Participate actively in the development and implementation of employment equity actions
  • Liaise with and maintain contacts with organizations representing special  interest of designate employee to gain and share information regarding recruitment sources, training and self-development opportunities available, and  local community problems which affect employment of these groups
  • Investigate employment practices and alleged violations of equality and non-discriminatory laws, in order to document and correct discriminatory factors
  • Interpret employment laws and employment equity regulations of individuals and employer
  • Study employment equity complaints in order to clarify issues
  • Prepare reports of selection, survey and other statistics and recommendations for corrective measures.
  • Develop guidelines for non-discriminatory employment practices and monitor their implementation and impact
  • Counsel newly hired members of disadvantages groups ,informing them about details of human rights laws
  • Provide information ,technical assistance and training to supervisors, managers and employees on topics such as employee supervision ,hiring ,grievance procedures and staff development
  • Verify that all job descriptions are submitted for review and approval, and that descriptions meet regulatory standards
  • Meet with job search committees to explain the role of the employment equity coordinator ,to provide resources for advertising ,and to explain expectations for future contacts


  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Labour Relation or related qualification
  • 2 years experience in Employment Equity environment
  • Valid driver’s License
